How to earn money online by displaying ads on blog or website

The best way to earn money on the internet is by displaying advertises on your blog or website. The process is really simple. All you need is a website and a publisher account that lets you grab a code, put it somewhere on your blog/website and earn from each click and view that you get. However, there are few strings attached. The advertising agencies have their own policies and you have to make sure your blog/website fulfils the requirements. For example, Google Adsense won’t allow you to show ads on a website that has little or no content at all. It also discourages to display ads on websites that are violating any copyright laws i.e. selling illegal copies of music albums, movies, games etc.

Before going in the detail, I would really recommend you to start experimenting with this method of earning money. I am listing a few steps that can be followed to launch a website or blog. A detailed article about launching your own blog or website will be posted soon. I am also giving the minimum time to go through a particular step.

1) Think about a website that is unique and has potential to grow. (1 day)

2) Get your business named. (1 day)

3) Register a domain name. (10 minutes)

4) Buy web hosting (10 minutes)

5) Get your website or blog designed (1 day)

6) Write content for your website. In case of a blog, you would need to publish a couple of good articles. Make sure they are unique and are not copied from elsewhere on the internet.

Now, if you have gone through the above steps or you have already a website/blog; you are ready to proceed. The next step is to signup as a publisher with an online advertising company like Google Adsense or Infolinks etc. Once you have signed up and your application is approved, you will be asked to create ads for your website. They can vary in sizes and types. You can create ads that fit with the design of your blog/website.

Now the question is how you earn money from those ads? Let’s say you have a blog related to the latest Android smart phones and you have recently done a review of Samsung Galaxy S4. The article is so good that it attracts many visitors from search engines and other social networking spaces. While checking out the article, the visitors may see your ads, click them or even buy something after clicking an ad. Some ads require an action to generate revenue i.e. clicking them. Such ads are called CPC (Cost Per Click) ads and you earn money for each legal click.  There are other ads like the CPM (Cost Per Mille) ads that only need to be viewed by the visitor and you earn money for each impression. And then there are advanced ads that can get you part of the revenue generated from each sale that was generated from ads clicks on your blog/website.

As I discussed in the example, the ad uses different techniques to track visitors’ demographics and behaviour etc. These techniques ensure that a relevant ad is shown for each user hence increasing the chances of clicks and sales. For example the cookies will do their best to show an advertise related to Samsung Galaxy S4 or its accessories.

Make sure not to click your own ads. This way you will get your account banned. Try to focus on good content and you will automatically get traffic. Traffic is money!
