Startup Weekend is Coming to Islamabad in May 2015
Startup is the buzz word these days. Developing nations like Pakistan are seeing an enormous hike in the number of startups launched each year. A number of incubation centers and startup accelerators are already there to provide the right platform for people with ideas who want to change the world with entrepreneurship.
Luckily in Pakistan, we have events like Startup Cup, Launchpad by Plan9 and Civic Hackathon etc. Yet another one of the many names is Startup Weekend which is a 54-hour long event where people with ideas make a team and launch their startup.

Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on experiences where entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs can find out if startup ideas are viable. On average, half of Startup Weekend’s attendees have technical or design backgrounds, the other half have business backgrounds.
Beginning with open mic pitches on Friday, attendees bring their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over Saturday and Sunday teams focus on customer development, validating their ideas, practicing LEAN Startup Methodologies and building a minimal viable product. On Sunday evening teams demo their prototypes and receive valuable feedback from a panel of experts.
So far, over 1500 Startup Weekend events have been organized worldwide in over 700 cities. Out of these events, some 13,000 startups have been launched. You can see all ongoing, past and future Startup Weekend events at http://startupweekend.org/events/
The Startup Weekend Islamabad is being organized by Google for Entrepreneurs form 15th – 17th May at AIR University.
Though many of such events are free of charge but this one will cost Rs.2,000 per person not including residence cost which is another Rs.2,000 per night per person.
If you are a developer, designer, marketer or a startup enthusiast, you should certainly attend the event.
